Created in 2011, this oil painting, "GW's Word" was included in an article in the Kentucky Rifle Association's Spring 2011 Bulletin.

The article was about an original Solomon Lumbard powder horn. This Revoltionary War patriot carried this powder horn throughout his service to his country. Solomon Lumbard's Company's eight-month enlistment was up at a critical time. General George Washington told the company if they willingly stay one month longer, he would then discharge them himself, and give one months pay.

He kept his word and the company was paid and discharged after one month.

Size: 12 x 16 inches - Framed

I created this 11x14 oil painting "An Essential Skill" in 2010. Most frontier families had large families that all learned to help in many ways. Being able to load and fire a firearm would have been an essential skill living on the frontier. In addition to the original painting, I'm offering "An Essential Skill" as a limited edition giclee canvas. If you are interested in a limited edition canvas, please contact me.

Size: 16 x 20 inches - Framed
Media: Oil
Price: $2500.00
Giclee: $175.00

The reference for Brookie, an oil/acrylic/pastel painting, is a photograph of a 20-inch brook trout I caught in Northern Quebec -- the largest "Brookie" I've ever caught. (I actually used a spinner, but I thought it would look cooler if I put a fly in its mouth.)

20 x 30 inches - Framed
Media: Mixed
Price: $1200.00

Home in the Badlands was completed after a visit to the Badlands in South Dakota. I took the reference photograph from behind my rental car -- there was no need to get any closer. An artist friend walked out in the middle of the herd -- brave or crazy? He says the only thing that shook him up a bit was almost stepping on a rattlesnake while watching the herd.

Size: 15 x20 inches - Framed
Media: Mixed
Price: $650.00

I took the reference photograph for Blackfoot at the Stampede in downtown Calgary while travelling in Alberta Canada. A challenge to paint, using watercolor on hot press illustration board, Blackfoot at the Stampede depicts a beautifully decorated Blackfoot, who looked kind of interesting standing with his horse and wearing sunglasses. If you know anything about hot press illustration board, you know that, unlike cold press, the paint doesn't get absorbed into the board. It had to dry before I used a little water to pick up the highlights. The technique was fun once I got the hang of it.

The reference for this painting "Fool's Gold" came from photos I took in South Dakota while attending an event called "The Artists Ride". I created the composition from a couple different photos. This event was so cool. Thirty-five artists attended and also numerous models such as; Native Americans, mountain men, cowboys etc. I took over 45 rolls of film for reference.

This painting "As The Thunder Increases" pictures a Sioux chief with thunder clouds present. These thunder clouds sound as the herds of buffalo were as many as blades of grass on the prairie. I do a lot of mixed media pieces. This one in particular was interesting because it's oil/colored pencil and watercolor on Arches 80# watercolor paper.
